CyberCX strengthens New Zealand team ahead of hyperscale cloud arrivals

Auckland, 03 October, 2024

CyberCX, the leading cyber security and cloud service provider across New Zealand and Australia, has today announced a strengthened leadership team in New Zealand as the country prepares for an increase in public cloud availability from 2025 and beyond.

Tom Khangura has been elevated to Director of Cloud Sales to boost CyberCX New Zealand’s Sovereign Secure Cloud Change and Continuous Compliance go to market strategy, while Sven Ross will take on the role of Executive Director for Managed Security Services where he will lead CyberCX’s Managed Security Services growth strategy and capabilities in New Zealand.

CyberCX’s NZ CEO Tim Sewell said: “New Zealand organisations continue to innovate through digital transformation, and the arrival of hyperscale public cloud providers on NZ shores provides new opportunities with local data residency, improved application performance and greater environmental sustainability. Cloud transformation projects can help protect organisations and their customers from cyber threats, but it’s vital that cyber security is an integral part of these projects to ensure these benefits are realised.

“CyberCX’s strength is our ability to combine region-leading cyber security capabilities with a depth of cloud experience to help customers get the right outcome with cloud migrations. Appointing Tom to the Director of Cloud Sales role and bringing Sven to New Zealand helps us do just that” said Tim.

Sven brings more than 25 years of experience in Information Technology, Operational Technology and cyber security and leadership experience from the Australian Special Forces. Tom brings over a decade in cyber security and cloud experience across New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Tom Khangura said: “With both the AWS Public and Commercial Sector Businesses poised for a New Zealand region launch in 2025, I’m excited to be stepping into a role that will help New Zealand organisations unlock the benefits of cloud computing such as enhanced security, scalable infrastructure, and access to AI and machine learning services.

“New Zealand businesses can achieve greater agility, innovate faster, and respond more effectively to market demands. We’re focused on reimagining how IT drives business outcomes” said Tom.

Sven Ross said: “With 200 cloud and cyber security professionals across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, CyberCX has a strong presence across New Zealand. Importantly, our state-of-the-art Security Operations Centres (SOC) in Auckland and Wellington deliver intelligence-led security operations services to our clients here in NZ and form critical nodes in our federated network of nine SOCs globally.”

Since launching in New Zealand in 2020, CyberCX has continued to grow and enhance its capability, service offerings and workforce, offering unparalleled depth of expertise across technical services, professional services and managed services in cyber security and cloud. These leadership announcements follow the launch of a new CyberCX office in Auckland at 131 Queen Streets, the company’s largest workspace in New Zealand.
