CyberCX, Australia and New Zealand’s leading cyber security services provider, announces appointment of Karina Mansfield to the role of Managing Director of Phriendly Phishing with plans for significant investment and global growth for the Australian SaaS platform.

Melbourne, 28 February 2022

CyberCX has today announced the appointment of Karina Mansfield as Managing Director of Phriendly Phishing, CyberCX’s award-winning cyber security and phishing awareness SaaS platform, designed and built in Australia. Mansfield has over 20 years of experience in cyber security and telecommunications. She was previously the Director of Telecommunications, Media and Utilities at Microsoft, Managing Director A/NZ at KnowBe4 and has held senior management roles at Optus and Telstra.

Her appointment follows CyberCX’s announcement of plans to boost investment in Phriendly Phishing, expanding the platform’s international footprint to the United Kingdom and United States, and focus on significant investment in platform and employee growth.

CyberCX’s CEO, John Paitaridis, said the company’s drive to invest and build its phishing awareness software was in response to a clear customer need. “Security awareness isn’t just a checkbox to tick. Building an effective cyber security culture across the organisation is now a threshold issue, the focus goes beyond just awareness of security risks – it’s about how you best equip your workforce through cyber skills uplift, education and learning, so that your people become a critical line of defence in the battle against cyber criminals.”

With phishing attacks and human vectors continuing to be the primary reasons for cyber incidents, the market outlook remains strong. The Security Awareness global market is estimated at US$2.5bn, including computer based training at US$660m. “We are excited to take an Australian cyber SaaS platform, developed in-house at CyberCX to the global stage,” said Paitaridis.

“We are delighted that Karina has joined Phriendly Phishing as Managing Director, her experience will be pivotal in taking our award-winning cyber security and phishing awareness platform to market leadership in Australia and New Zealand and expansion into new global markets.”

“I’m very pleased to be joining Phriendly Phishing in the role of Managing Director through this exciting period of rapid growth and investment,” said Mansfield. “Phriendly Phishing is a great example of Australian cyber security technology and innovation that has been locally developed and built, and is destined for domestic and international success. The platform is world-class, and I look forward to working with the talented team to establish it as the leading security awareness and education platform for enterprise and government organisations.”

The platform targets human error and alerts and trains staff to adopt better cyber security hygiene, empowering employees with lifelong skills to make safer decisions and fortify organisational cyber security. Phriendly Phishing has helped educate and empower customers of all sizes from 50 to 60,000 employees. The Phriendly Phishing SaaS platform currently has almost 400 key enterprise and government customers in Australia and New Zealand, with hundreds of thousands of end users across finance, health, retail, education, energy, resources and government agencies. Phriendly Phishing will launch in the United States and United Kingdom in May 2022.
